Notes on participating in the tour

  • Please be aware of the contents of the written oath you signed when landing on Gunkanjima and abide by it. Each passenger, adult or child, will be required to sign a pledge (written on your behalf). You can also print it out from our website, bring it with you on the same day after signing, or send an email with the PDF attached to our email address. You can also fill it out at our reception office on the day of boarding.
  • Please strictly adhere to the reception hours (8:10-8:50 AM flights, 13:00-13:40 PM flights). Even if you arrive before reception hours, you will not be able to complete the procedure.
  • There is one restroom on the ship, but not at the reception office or on the pier. Please complete this before joining the tour. (There are public restrooms about 3 minutes walk from the pier, nearby commercial facilities, and Takashima.)
  • During the tour, please be sure to follow the instructions of the captain, ship staff, and guides.
  • Whether or not you can land will be determined by whether you can land safely based on various conditions and local sea conditions. If the conditions cannot be met or safety cannot be ensured, landing will not be possible and the ship will return to Nagasaki Port after the excursion. (We will return about 40 minutes earlier than the normal route.)
  • For safety reasons during navigation, those who have been drinking alcohol will not be allowed to participate in the tour. Also, please refrain from drinking and smoking during the tour.
  • Landing may be refused if you wear high heels, stiletto heels, flip-flops, or sandals.
  • Footwear with narrow and high heels is prohibited as they may get stuck in the grating of the sidewalks on Hashima (Gunkanjima). Please note that there is no problem with items with thick and sturdy heels, sports sandals, Crocs, etc.
  • For safety reasons, children under the age of 4 are not allowed to participate in the tour, whether accompanied or not.
  • Passengers under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket. Additionally, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when using the deck seats.
  • The use of umbrellas, including parasols, is prohibited on board the ship and on Hashima Island (Gunkanjima), as emergency response cannot be provided in case of eye contact. If you come ashore in rainy weather, please wear a raincoat. (Simple raincoats are sold on board for 200 yen.) Also, depending on the sea conditions on the day, seawater may enter the cabin due to unexpected waves during the voyage. Please be forewarned.
  • The area around Hashima (Gunkanjima) is open sea, so unlike an inner port, ships may shake considerably. If you are prone to seasickness, please prepare motion sickness medicine in advance. (There will be no sales at our reception or onboard the ship, so please prepare in advance.)
  • In the summer, Hashima (Gunkanjima) gets hotter than you might imagine, depending on the day. Parasols are not allowed, so please prepare a wide-brimmed hat, cooling gear, and plenty of hydration to prevent heatstroke.
  • You cannot board the ship with pets.
  • There are no waiting areas or other facilities near the pier.
  • Depending on the reservation status or trouble with the ship's engine, you may be required to use a substitute ship.
  • Even if you are unable to land on Hashima (Gunkanjima) due to weather or sea conditions, the boarding fee will not be refunded.
  • If the flight is cancelled, you will not have to pay the fare, but there will be no other compensation (refund of transportation expenses, accommodation expenses, etc.).
